Please join us as we celebrate Red Ribbon Week starting Tuesday, October 31st through Friday, November 3rd.  This week is recognized nationally by having students pledge to be drug-free.  Brentwood Elementary School is participating to demonstrate the school’s commitment to a Drug-Fee America.  During the week, the school counselor will be communicating to students the importance of making appropriate choices to stay safe, healthy and drug-free.  Help us celebrate by having your child participate in the following themed day activities:

  • Tuesday 10/31: “We have the POWER to be Drug-Free!”
    • Students can wear a cape and/or superhero shirt to show their POWER over drugs.
  • Wednesday 11/01: “Join the FIGHT against Drugs!”
    • Wear military clothing (camouflage, green or brown) to school.
  • Thursday 11/02: “TEAM up against Drugs!”
    • Wear your favorite team jersey or sports shirt to school.
  • Friday 11/03: “Follow your DREAMS, Don’t do Drugs!”
    • Wear pajamas to school.

Eat More Fruits & Veggies!

Most people know that eating fruits and vegetables is important for good health, but most of us still aren’t getting enough. This September, let’s participate in Fruits & Veggies – More Matters Month. Eating a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits can help you lower your risk for heart disease and some types of cancer, maintain or reach a healthy weight, and keep your body strong and active. Here are some ideas to help you and your family fit more fruits and vegetables into your day. Try keeping a bowl of fruit handy where the whole family can see it, cut up fruits and veggies ahead of time so they’re ready for quick, healthy snacks, and challenge your family to try a new veggie or fruit every week. Remember, eating more fruits and veggies can be fun and worth it!
